One thing that draws all the animals together is their shared faith and this comes up repeatedly throughout the story.
Opposing the kind and friendly animals of Marston St Lawrence is a fox called Trixie, who causes the animals much worry and upset. He is ruthless and wicked, but luckily for the animals, not very bright!
The story mainly follows the journey of Sunny, the youngest of the robins, who goes from being a shy and nervy young fellow to a dependable and mature boy due to the adventures that the animals have and the constantly ominous presence of Trixie. Sunny’s journey of maturity throughout the story is a likeness to the journey of a Christian life and a relationship with God.
